What is a District Leader?
District Leaders, formally known as State Committee members, are individuals who help run the Brooklyn Democratic Party. Although the District Leader position is unpaid, a male and female candidate must be elected to represent their district for a two-year term. District Leaders cannot pass legislation. However, they play an important role by:
Voting for Brooklyn Democratic Party leaders
Nominating judges
Staffing the NYC Board of Elections
Writing the rules that govern our local party
Liaising with local elected leaders such as Assembly Members, State Senators, City Council Members, and the Mayor
When elected, Racquel will advocate for the needs of her community and involve them in the judicial nomination process.
